Lotus Work At Home Mums Blog

What a whirlwind!

By Leigh Hunt on August 4th, 2007

Well, I can’t believe it’s been so long since I last posted in my blog, and soooooo much has happened!  Lotus HQ and my family home has moved from Bristol to Norfolk.  It was touch and go for a while but we made it.......

Three weeks ago (roughly) my husband, daughter and I came to Norfolk to find a rental property top move into when our property was sold.  Looking in the paper and on the internet there seemed to be such a glut of properties that it would be a doddle, right?
We arrived in Norfolk with a spring in our step.  It was going to be easy.  We had four days to find somewhere to live (the following week!) when the sale of our house completed. By the end of day one we were bound to have a list of houses to choose from.

How wrong we were?

After a reality check, it dawned on us that on paper there was one place worth looking at.  It was an old Tudor property in a delightful village nestled like an oasis amongst farm land.  We pulled up outside the house for our viewing and both thought we’d stuck the jackpot.  That was until we met the landlord........

A very nice chap, BUT his house was actually a part of the rental house that had been separated off.  Not ideal, and certainly not the scenario my husband and I were prepared for given our need for space and privacy.  Still, we had to live somewhere, and time was ticking, so maybe we’d have to settle for a live-in landlord (Nooooooooooooo!).

Anyway, by the third day we had almost given up and were ready to hot foot it back to Bristol to make a last minute plan B.  However, in a last ditch attempt I stumbled across an agent I’d not come across before and gave them a call.  To cut a long story short, they had a house come in that day that fitted our requirements perfectly.  We viewed it, fell in love with the house and the views and within a few days it was ours......

I couldn’t be more delighted with the new Lotus HQ.  More than ever I feel so lucky to work from home and have the choice about where I live.  Just a few steps out of my office and I’m into our garden which has far reaching views over farmland.  It’s such a contrast to the city and it makes me feel very content.

Life is good....
