Living without Internet in the Internet Age

Just what is it like living in this Internet age without well, the Internet? Last week I found out. For three whole days I was without a telephone line and Internet connection at home (thanks goodness Lotus has an external office of staff to keep things ticking over!).
“How on Earth did you cope?” I hear you gasp! Well, once I’d stopped twitching and twiddling my thumbs I started to see that it was actually a good thing, and probably happened for a reason. To show me how much more productive I could be with it. Since the great Internet outage at Apple Tree Cottage I’ve realised that much of my work does not actually require an Internet connection, and well, actually it can quite interfere with what I’m doing at times. So I’ve started to plan my surf time, and have a clear goal of what I want to achieve BEFORE I click ‘connect’. This has stopped all manor of side tracking and kept me focused on what matters.
Subsequently I’ve found myself with more time on my hands, so now I’m off to find something to do with it!
By the way, the phone line was down due to death by combine harvester to a telegraph pole in our lane. The dark side of rural life……
