Lotus Work At Home Mums Blog
Domesticated bliss
By Leigh Hunt on August 9th, 2007
A rather strange thing has happened to me since I moved to Norfolk.
Wait for it.
I’ve started to enjoy domestic chores. Hmmmmm, weird.
In fact, I see them as an important part of my week. Not because of the physical result (although that is of course a huge bonus!), but because whilst I’m doing them I find myself going into some kind of meditative state. And I don’t mean I cross my legs and start humming (
), rather it gives me the time to find peace and clarity in my thoughts. The result has been some pretty good ideas. And more generally, I just find it’s a great way to unwind.
Mind you, the fact that my kitchen looks out on to wide, open fields certainly helps!
Yesterday, and the day before, I finished work early (all helped by my drive towards super efficiency) and took a walk with my family. Both days we made it our mission to spot as much wildlife as possible, and both days we were rewarded with sightings of deer! Now, if you’ve lived in the country for some time you’ll probably read this and yawn (
), but for us the excitement was electric. The first day it was a Doe with her young and the second a lone deer bouncing through a field of sugar beet.
How lucky we are that we can step outside our front door (quite literally!) and see such wonderful sights!
