If you are easily distracted, staying focused on your business can be harder than doing the actual work of your business! It is very easy to procrastinate, especially when you are a WAHM. There are always so many other things to do.

Starting Your Own Home Based Bookkeeping Business
By Leigh Hunt on November 21st, 2007
Many small business owners will hire a bookkeeper to keep track of their day to day expenses and income. A basic bookkeeper keeps tracks of expenses, profit, receipts, etc. and enters the information into a computer program. The bookkeeper will then provide the information to their client on a monthly basis or however frequent the client requests to be updated.

Breaking Free From Negative Thoughts And Embracing Mistakes
By Leigh Hunt on November 16th, 2007
Have you ever had a negative thought? Have you ever uttered it out loud, even in jest? Most of us have. More importantly, more often than we’d like to admit. Negative thinking can be damaging not only to our self-esteem, but can begin a cycle of thought and behaviour that negatively impacts our own perception of events in our lives.

By Leigh Hunt on November 12th, 2007
There’s no doubt about it. Staying within your comfort zone is… well… comfortable.
But if you don’t venture outside of your usual boundaries every now and again, you could start to feel bored, or worse… trapped.
Trapped in a mediocre life, when you could be leading a life full of new challenges and excellence.
Is there something you need to do, or know you should do, but it scares the living daylights out of you?

Just When You Feel Like Giving Up..
By Leigh Hunt on November 8th, 2007
I’ m reading an excellent book at the moment called ’The 80/20 Principle‘ by Richard Koch. The 80/20 principle is a term first coined by a man named Pareto that states 20% of effort leads to 80% of rewards. An interesting theory in itself, but I came across another principle in the book that resonates with me, and wonder if it does with you too.

Have you got the patience to be a WAHM?
By Leigh Hunt on October 23rd, 2007
Indi is such a mummy’s girl at the moment, which of course I love
She really wants mummy to be by her side every time she wakes in the night, which is cute, but just recently she seems to be waking quite a lot! Never having been one to let her cry when she obviously needs me, I do of course pander to her every need. Yes, I’m a sucker!
, but with a face like this…

What is a WAHM?
By Leigh Hunt on October 14th, 2007
WAHM is an acronym for Work At Home Mum. It’s used to describe a growing phenomenon of mums that are taking control and choosing to earn an income from home, typically so that they can care for their own children as much as possible.

Flicking the off switch
By Leigh Hunt on September 24th, 2007
One of the biggest challenges I’ve found working from home is switching off from work at times when I really should be focusing my attention elsewhere. If there’s one area where going out to work has the edge on working from home (and I can only think of one!), it’s the fact that when you leave the office (or wherever you might work) you have a well defined boundary that makes it easy for you to forget about work. At home you have to work really hard to create this boundary for yourself.

Buying a Franchise - What to know
By Leigh Hunt on September 18th, 2007
Franchising can be an excellent way to start a business, often reducing the amount of risk involved compared with starting from scratch. However, like any business, you do need to do your research before making what is a considerable investment. Here are some questions you should receive satisfactory answers to before going ahead:

What are your kids pet names?
By Leigh Hunt on September 17th, 2007
I was browsing through a few mums websites today and found it hilariously interesting that other mums have the same pet names for their kids as me. And I thought I was so unique
My little girl goes by the names ‘Missy Moo Mo’, ‘Boo Boo’, ‘Chickaboo’, ‘Chick chick’, Bubba dubs’ and ‘Boobsy’ amongst others. Hmmmm, could we have some confusion with identity here!! LOL!
Got any unusual/interesting pet names to share?

Dame Anita Roddick
By Leigh Hunt on September 12th, 2007
Having opted for a low information diet quite some time ago, I was saddened this morning when I received an email telling me that Dame Anita Roddick has sadly passed away. As a personal inspiration to me, and shining example of how business can and should be done, she will be sorely missed. She has made such an impact to this World and long may her legacy live on.
My Heart felt wishes go out to her family.

What’s the worst that can happen?
By Leigh Hunt on September 1st, 2007
I recently came across a great tip for overcoming fear of action in the Four Hour Work Week by Timothy Ferris (a must read!). You’ll find it a particularly useful exercise if you’ve got a burning ambition to start a business but are being held back by fear and crippling ‘what if’s’.

Women don’t start businesses JUST for the money so get over it Glenda!
By Leigh Hunt on August 30th, 2007
After reading this article today, I just HAD to comment. Whilst I must champion Glenda Stone for her success as an entrepreneur and support for women in business generally, our song sheets couldn’t be more different!

Living without Internet in the Internet Age
By Leigh Hunt on August 21st, 2007
Just what is it like living in this Internet age without well, the Internet? Last week I found out. For three whole days I was without a telephone line and Internet connection at home (thanks goodness Lotus has an external office of staff to keep things ticking over!).
